Rotterdam Development Corporation: 'We want to see results'
The plans for the restructuring work on the Spaanse Polder were made by the City of Rotterdam in collaboration between several services. The Rotterdam Development Corporation (OBR) plays a central policy role and also implements the plans like a private company. The Rotterdam Development Corporation sees its mission as follows: 'We want to provide the business community in our city with as much support as possible and to initiate new developments together. We do this in an extremely businesslike and efficient way. We want to see results. Economic and spatial. We are always looking for a sound return on our investments.'
Natasha Viering, Spaanse Polder 2015 communications consultant: 'That approach encourages us to keep a close eye on the results. So we have set up milestones for all sorts of sub-projects. And we monitor progress closely. The responsible councillor also wants to know at all times how much support we have from the 700 companies. And so he encourages us to communicate with them at length and intensively.'
