Closing conference, 16 November in The Netherlands
On 16 November 2006, the ReUrbA closing conference will take place in The Hague. The aim of this closing conference is to explain the ReUrbA method to the outside world. It will target professionals, administrators, market players, students, universities and professional journals from the countries involved in ReUrbA: Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
The final congress will take the shape of a journey of discovery and encounters through an urban area: the 'ReUrbA Area'. Visitors can visit this area and experience what is possible in the field of urban regeneration and restructuring. There are also workshop rooms and 'suburbs' representing the various ReUrbA projects, and four representatives of different lifestyles will be walking around in the area. These 'urban prototypes' will talk to visitors, draw their attention to items in the Area and talk about their own needs and lifestyles, day-to-day activities, work, and leisure requirements.
A street musician will provide background music at the various catering outlets.
The catering is adapted to the lifestyles walking around the Area. There is, for example, a lunchroom with junk food, a lunchroom specially for dual-income couples, a coffee corner for senior citizens and a multicultural food stall.
The whole event is situated in Madurodam, a miniature city in The Hague, where there are scale models showing elements from numerous Dutch cities.
