The ReUrbA project has closed
The benefits of de cooperation for ''Saarbrücken'

Christian Bies and Jana Lessiots (Saarbrücken GIU):

‘It gave us courage’

Christian Bies and Jana Lessiotis of Saarbrücken’s GIU primarily appreciate ReUrbA because of the valuable support and feedback. ‘It has given us courage, and what is more important, it has given the City Council courage. This project for the centre of Saarbrücken did not originate from the Council, but from the private sector, from the people themselves. In Germany this is a big difference. Public-private partnerships are not common. So it was good for our local politicians to see that they are widespread practice in Holland and Britain. It was also good to know that the ReUrbA partners thought our approach was good, that we had been doing things the right way.’
Christian and Jana are confident that the Stadtmitte am Fluss project will eventually be realised. ‘All the plans are ready. The only thing we need now is the money’.
